Go Carts – How to Survive by Being Safe!

January 31, 2012

Go carts are certainly thrilling, but they can also be dangerous if not taken seriously. You have to remember that it’s not just you out on the track. There will be other drivers attempting to pass you around sharp corners whose talent may be questionable at best. By following a few common-sense safety rules you can eliminate most of the serious dangers.

Different types of go carts can have speeds ranging anywhere from very slow to very fast. But regardless of the speed they are always exciting to race. They are simple vehicles that are also easy to handle. No matter what your skill level there are tracks all over the country that will fill your needs and wants. There are many go cart classes or levels that will cater to every age range from kids to adults. Gocarts are generally easy to drive and easy to control. This is why they have become so popular, because it’s an easy and relatively cheap way to experience the thrill of Formula 1 racing without the expense or the danger.

There are many different types of vehicles that are built for racing fun. Among these are ATV off road vehicles, motor scooters, dirt bikes, mopeds, mini bikes, motorcycles and gopeds. But if you are wanting to experience the thrill and excitement of Indy Car or Formula 1 open-wheel racing, with a powerful gas engine rocketing you down the track, and with relative safety, go carts are what you will want to be climbing into.

For beginners to experts, and everyone in between, go carts are fun. Whether you want to drive as slow as your Grandma or as fast as Tony Stewart and Michael Schumacher, racing go carts can get you there. Many top professional NASCAR, Formula One and Indy Car drivers today got their start in the lowly go cart. With a lot of practice maybe you can achieve the same success.

It wasn’t too long ago that go carts were mostly found in family fun centers where any kid and his little brother could go racing at a whopping 15 or mph. They still exist, but real go cart tracks have been springing up all over. It’s now possible to go 60 miles an hour in a go cart. And if that’s not fast enough for you try an enduro cart and reach top speeds of 90 mph. Or race in a shifter cart at an astounding 160 mph. Don’t start sweating yet, you don’t have to go that fast to have fun. You can drive in any level or class that you feel comfortable with.

But this brings up some questions: With go carts speeding down the track so fast these days, are they too dangerous to drive? Can you travel as fast as 100 mph and still be safe? The answer is yes and no. Sure, you can still be safe, but without following certain safety rules you can increase your chances of serious injury. It’s not necessarily the fast speeds that cause the serious accidents, but the unsafe or inexperienced drivers.

The first rule of the road is to remain in your comfort zone. This is easier said then done however because racing is not for the timid. At some point, when you want to move up to a more experienced level or class, you may not feel equipped to do that. However, by building up your confidence in the lower classes you will eventually be ready for more competition. Just don’t try to move up faster than your driving expertise allows.

Back in the olden days, when go carts were extremely slow, you could go racing safely without a helmet. Those days are long gone. Even in kiddie tracks helmets are a requirement now. The helmet is perhaps the most important piece of equipment that a go cart driver will ever use. There are other pieces of equipment that are necessary too, but none more important than a high-quality helmet. In the event of a crash it can spare you from a serious head injury.

To a great extent you can control the amount of danger that you are faced with. Many decisions that you make before climbing into the cart will determine how safe it will be for you out on the track. From the type of clothes you wear to the type of go cart you buy will help determine your safety level on the track. By taking every safety precaution that you possibly can you will lessen your risk of sustaining a serious injury. So do your homework and be prepared. It’s a lot more fun racing go carts when you can walk away after a race instead of having to be driven away in an ambulance.

The importance of clothing can’t be overstated. The slower you race the less important clothing becomes, but the faster your go cart goes the more you need to be sure you are clothed properly. Depending on your speeds certain clothing may help spare you from serious injury. At faster speeds fire safety suits are a must. There is ignitable fuel in your vehicle and in the event of a crash it is possible for it to catch fire. Preventing burns is a very desirable thing. Other indispensable gear includes fire-resistant racing shoes to protect your feet and gloves for your hands.

All go carts today have roll bars that extend higher than the driver’s head. The chassis of the go cart will either be open or caged. A caged go cart has a cage that covers the driver. It protects the driver in the event of a rollover. It serves the same purpose as a roll bar. Most tracks demand a cage for safety. Go carts also have side bars that can protect you from serious injury should another driver ram you from the side. You have to remember, you could be the greatest driver in the world, but you’re not out there alone. You are driving with others whose skill levels may leave a lot to be desired. So buying a quality go cart is always a good idea.

By taking these few simple precautions it will improve your chances of having fun out on the track by lessening your chances of becoming injured. Go carts can be just about as safe as you make them. With some practice and experience there is no reason why any driver can’t move up the ranks safely. Keep safety as your number one goal and go carting will be fun for many years to come.

Atv Accessories To Make That Next Ride Unforgettable

January 31, 2012

There are two aspects of ATV’ing that can really make your next ride an incredible adventure as opposed to just average. Better performance is the first and comfort is the second. To better aid you in enjoying your next ride we have assembled the top 8 atv accessory ideas to give you both an upgrade in atv performance and comfortabiltiy.

The bumper is the first part of the atv accessory list that has to be considered. Originally a bumper was a separate metal bar or blade at each end of a vehicle to prevent damaging the atv. The bumper is one of the more upgradable aspects of an atv. ATV bumpers com in different colors, shapes and materials. Which can give your atv a much more streamlined appearance and make your ride faster, thusly more enjoyable.

Another atv accessory is a cabin enclosure. What you use your atv for dictates which cab enclosure that you should purchase. If you use it for fishing expeditions. The weather becomes stormy and you are far from shelter. All you need is a atv cabin enclosure installed to make this atv problem go away. A good cabin enclosure has 3 windows, one entry door, and is made of a flame retardant material.

Another atv cabin enclosure is what is called a hunting blind. It is 5 zippered gun ports. Some hunting blind atv cabin enclosures have a zippered gun port in the roof for goose and duck hunting.

The third must have atv accessory can be broken down into several categories. This particular atv accessory is a holder for your spotting scope, camera, and 8mm and VHS camcorder.

Want to carry small things with you without losing them? A fender organizer atv accessory will do the trick. For bigger items think about purchasing a bucket hugger controlled cargo tray. The bucket hugger atv accessory securely holds two 50-gallon buckets and tools.

The next atv accessory no active ATV’er should be without is good grip. During a ride in the summer your hand may get slippery from the seat and you can easily lose control of the vehicle. You want grips that are made of non-slip soft rubber. Look at high-density foam. This can deaden vibration and prevents the dreaded “tingling” in your hands. Ask for anti-vibration pads, which minimize fatigue and prevent slippage.

Helmets are way to show your individuality. Helmets come in a multitude of styles, shapes and colors. But no matter what helmet you decide to purchase make sure have a lock for the helmet. A great atv accessory are slip through standard “D” rings which will help secure the helmet to your ATV.

Last but not least atv accessory which will give you the ultimate in comfortability while atving are handlebar mitts. Fitting easily over the handlebars they keep your hands warm and dry when the weather is not that favorable.

Just remember these are just suggestions to make your next trip enjoyable. An upgrade in both performance and comfortablity, increasing the chances of your next atv exprience one of the best yet.

Could The New Google Spider Be Causing Issues With Websites?

January 31, 2012

Around the time Google announced “Big Daddy,” there was a new Googlebot roaming the web. Since then I’ve heard stories from clients of websites and servers going down and previously unindexed content getting indexed.

I started digging into this.and you’d be surprised at what I found out.

First, let’s look at the timeline of events:

In Late September some astute spider watchers over at Webmasterworld spotted unique Googlebot activity. In fact, it was in this thread: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/25897-9-10.htm that the bot was first reported on. It concerned some posters who thought that perhaps this could be regular users masquerading as the famous bot.

Early on it also appeared that the new bot wasn’t obeying the Robots.txt file. This is the protocol which allows or denies crawling to parts of a website.

Speculation grew on what the new crawler was until Matt Cutts mentioned a new Google test data center http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/good-magazines/#comment-5293. For those that don’t know, Matt Cutts is a senior engineer with Google and one of the few Google employees talking to us “regular folk.” This mention happened in November.

There wasn’t much mention of Big Daddy until early January of this year when Matt again blogged about it asking for feedback. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/bigdaddy/

Much feedback was given on the accuracy of the results. There were also those that asked if the Mozilla Googlebot (known as “Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)” in your visitor logs) and Big Daddy were related, but no response was made.

Now I’m going to begin some of my own speculation:

I do in fact believe the two are related. In fact, I think this new crawler will eventually replace the old crawlers just as Big Daddy will replace the current data infrastructure. http://www.textlinkbrokers.com/blogs/comments/310_0_1_0_C/

Why is this important?

Based on my observations, this crawler may be able to do so much more than the old crawler.

For one, it emulates a newer browser. The old bot was based on the Lynx text based browser. While I’m sure Google added features as time went on, the basic Lynx browser is just that basic.

Which explains why Google couldn’t deal with things like JavaScript, CSS and Flash.

However, with the new spider, built on the Mozilla engine, there are so many possibilities.

Just look at what your Mozilla or Firefox browser can do itself render CSS, read and execute JavaScript and other scripting languages, even emulate other browsers.

But that’s not all.

I’ve talked to a few of my clients and their sites are getting hammered by this new spider. It has gotten so bad that some of their servers have gone down because of the volume of traffic from this one spider!

On the plus side, I have clients who went from a few hundred thousand indexed pages to over 10 million in just a few weeks! Literally since December, 2005 there’s been a 3500% increase in indexed pages over an 8 week period! Just so you know, this is also the client’s site that went down because of the huge volume of crawling happening.

But that’s still not all.

I have another client which uses IP recognition to serve content based on a person’s geographic location. If you live in the US you get American content and pricing; if you live in the UK you get UK content and pricing. As you may imagine, the UK, US, Canadian and Australian content is all very similar. In fact about the only thing noticeably different is the pricing aspect.

This is my concern if the duplicate content gets indexed by Google what will they do? There’s a good chance that the site would be penalized or even banned for violation of the webmaster quality guidelines set forth by Google here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html#quality

This is why we implemented IP recognition so that Googlebot, which crawls from US IP addresses only sees one version of the site.

However, a review of the server logs shows that this new Googlebot has been visiting not only the US content but also the content of the other sections of the site. Naturally, I wanted to verify that the IP recognition was working. It is. This leads me to wonder then; can this browser spoof its location and/or use a proxy?

Imagine that the browser is smart enough to do some of its own testing by viewing the site from multiple IP addresses. If that’s the case then those who cloak sites are going to have problems.

In any case, from the limited observations I’ve made, this new Google both the data center and the spider are going to change the way we do things.

Got A License Plate Frame?

January 30, 2012

There are many ways to promote something you care about and to celebrate someone or something you love, but few ways are as unique, fun, and inexpensive as getting a license plate frame for your car.

It sounds funny at first, but think of how great having a unique license plate frame could be. One of the biggest reasons that most people decide to purchase a license plate frame is to promote an idea or an interest that they are passionate about. You can get a license plate frame customized about practically anything whether it is to save the whales or to give every child a chance to live. There are not many easier or more unoffensive ways to advertise your cares to the people around you than to use a license plate frame.

Many people also get a license plate frame to show support for their favorite team or their college alma mater. More inexpensive than customizing your actual license plate, buying a customized license plate frame will announce your loyalties to exactly the same amount of people.

Just think about how often you drive your car around town and on trips. Your unique license plate frame will be seen by a variety of people every time you drive. If you’re tired of seeing people protest for or against their favorite causes in ways that are harmful and offensive, consider protesting the things you care about in harmless and silent way. You will have to do nothing except drive in order to celebrate and advertise loud enough for many people to see.

Another great thing about personalizing a license plate frame is that it is a less permanent and less messy option than attaching a bumper sticker to your car. Using a license plate frame instead gives you the flexibility to change it or remove it at any time. If you think about all of the ways you could choose to celebrate and support a team or a cause, a license plate frame is one of the most inexpensive ways to do it. There is no need (unless of course you want to) to buy clothing, flags, or other means of advertising. Simply find a store near you and get your license plate frame made in little time at all.

A license plate frame can also symbolize the place you came from or your favorite place to travel. With a little bit of creative thinking, a license plate frame can be made to display almost anything at all. You can even go the extreme of having a license plate frame customized to fit every season of the year or to celebrate specific events or holidays.

Whatever you desire to celebrate, promote, or advertise, consider the benefits of a customized, unique license plate frame and get yours today.

Smart Yearend Planning-Planning for the next year

January 30, 2012

There are three main areas we need to keep in mind as the year ends:
1.
Taxes
2. Corporate formalities
3. Planning for next year

Planning for the next year

a)OperationsWhat are one or two areas of your business that can be improved? How can you improve your service, stay in better touch with clients, close the gaps in your system? Ask your customers, clients and employees for suggestions. People like the fact you ask, even if they dont have suggestions. For constructive feedback, you need an environment where people can take criticism or self-critique, not pointing fingers but rather give non-accusatory feedback.
b)MarketingMake it a goal to adopt one new marketing strategy or lead generation strategy per quarter for the next year.
c)Steams of incomeAdd one or two more streams of income for the next year. If you flip property, try hanging on to one or two to rent. If you have a Web marketing business, add one or two new products or services.
d)Joint Ventures or productMany of you have a product or book in you.

Tie up loose ends and hit the ground running at the yearend. Write down your goals now and about halfway through the year. Revisit what you wrote downyou will be stunned at how much youve accomplished.

Ballroom Dancing-Let’s Talk Shoes

January 30, 2012

Ballroom dancing, like most other sports, (and if you don’t believe it’s a sport, get out there and do swing dancing for.an hour or so and see if you don’t work up a sweat) has it’s own ‘uniform’ of sorts, including the style of clothing as well as the type of shoes worn. That varies, of course, depending on whether you’re going to class, a studio dance or a competition.

I often hear the question – ‘What kind of shoes should I wear to dance in? It’s my opinion that the very best choices for footwear are those designed especially for ballroom dancing and even more specifically for the exact dance style you plan to be doing. But until such time as you decide to reward yourself with that sexy strappy Latin shoe with the Cuban heel for the cha-cha or rhumba, or a gorgeous sequined number for the elegant waltz, practicing in street shoes is perfectly acceptable.

Now…having said that, let me quickly add that not just any street shoe will do. Styles that should be avoided include anything with rubber soles, like sneakers, (they just don’t give you the slide you need on the floor), open-toes (for obvious reasons, you’re still learning and chances are so is your partner), such as sandals or (heaven forbid) flip-flops! And yes, I’ve actually seen people show up for class wearing flip flops! Try to execute a double spin in those!

But, if you have a leather soled shoe, such as a loafer-type, or for men, a dress shoe style, these will usually accomodate you nicely. The most important factor is that they must be comfortable and not tight on your feet. If your feet are aching, you’ll soon be unable to focus on anything else.

The dance floor itself plays a part in the comfort level of your feet. Some studios have the proper flooring for dancing, which usually includes a cushiony, almost spring-like underflooring. This type floor enables dancers to dance for hours without feeling much effect…IF their shoes are also adequately comfortable. But some dance studios are built on a concrete slab, with only a layer of hardwood over it, and on those floors your poor feet will take a pounding.

When the time comes that you decide to invest in a good pair of dance shoes, shop around a bit. Prices and styles vary and the selection is almost endless. Prices can range from $30-50 on the low end to well over $200 on the high end. Dance shoes are designed not only to be best suited for dancing, but to enhance the overall aesthetics of your dance…you’ll simply look better out there on the floor.

Many of the features of dance shoes serve practical purposes. The ankle straps are not just eye-appealing, they actually help your feet stay firmly in your shoes. Some of the pump styles have elasticized rims on the uppers which ‘hugs’ the shoe to your foot. The heels are different heights and widths, depending on the style of dance they’re designed for. The soles are typically suede, which gives you the ability to literally ‘glide’ as you dance across the floor, and are especially helpful when doing turns and spins.

To preserve the life of these suede soles, dance shoes should never be worn outside. Two other accessories that will extend the wear of your dance shoes – a carrying case for transporting them, and a sole brush to lift the nap of the suede every couple of weeks or so.

One final note - dance shoes (or any other shoe, for that matter) should be tried on in the late afternoon or evening, when your feet are typically at their largest. You’ll be requiring a lot of your feet over the span of your dancing experience…treat them right, dress them properly and you’ll have a great foundation on which to build a lifetime of ballroom dancing.

Managing The Fear Of Loneliness

January 30, 2012

Sometime or another we will experience a time when we are alone. Some people fear of being alone for various reasons. The first step is to become comfortable with yourself and having the self-confidence that you will be able to manage being alone. There is nothing wrong with being alone. If being alone bothers you then seeing a counselor can help you with these issues.

In the meantime, here is a short list of techniques that a person can use so that the fear of being alone doesnt become a major issue in their lives.

The first step is to find an activity that you enjoy and where you can meet a lot of people. For instance, joining a group activity such as a volleyball group, womens club, or making crafts can be a great way to meet people. Doing something that you like to do will make you happy and will increase your chances of making friends.

Spending time with animals can be a great source of companionship. Whether you have a dog or you go to your local shelter, spending time with an animal or pet can help us to feel better. Animals can be of good company to all of us whether we are alone or not.

Helping others through community service can be of some help. There are many people out there who could benefit from your time and talents. Helping others can give you a source of pride and
accomplishment and also can lead to friendships.

It isnt fun being alone, but sometimes there are worse things. For instance, imagine that you are married or stuck in a relationship that you cant get out of and also makes you miserable. Not only do you have to live with this person, but there is no way to get out of the relationship because of various financial or personal reasons. As a result, you are stuck living with someone that you cant stand and makes you depressed every single day of your life. With this viewpoint, being alone doesnt sound that bad.

For those of you who believe in God, spending time with God and praying to him can help us in our lonely situation. Spending time with God and asking God for help in our time of loneliness can be of great comfort. You never know how God will work in ones life. Ask him for help and trust that he will help you.

As a Layman, the important thing is to do something constructive. Sitting around and doing nothing will not make things any better whether its dealing with the fear of being alone or something else. Take it one day at a time and stay committed in trying to solve your problem.

Eleven California Schools Districts Awarded $150,000 to Encourage Students to Attend Health Career Institute

January 29, 2012

In June of 2006, superintendent of public instruction Jack OConnell awarded $150,000 in grants to 11 districts within the California schools. The funds are for California schools student attendance at the California Health Science Education Institute and associated costs of the program.

Currently, there are numerous jobs in the healthcare industry for applicants with college and only high school degrees. The healthcare industry is in desperate need of well-educated people to fill an increasing number of positions projected for the future. This need gives todays California schools students opportunities for future careers that will provide them a comfortable lifestyle.

These healthcare jobs are demanding; however, and require rich and rigorous core curriculums for students from kindergarten through high school. The grants will help prepare California schools students for such careers, as well as meet the demand for well-educated workers in the healthcare industry a win-win situation for everyone.

The funds ultimately are designed to help California schools students consider such careers. The eligible districts within the California schools already have Health Science Pathways in place. They are quality programs that help prepare students for healthcare careers. Districts that participate are eligible for up to $15,000 in grant money, distributed in two payments. The first payment of 75 percent is received before students attend the Institute. The remaining 25 percent is received upon completion of Institute attendance and application requirements.

The fulfillment of each district grant requires:

Development teams that consist of teachers, administrators, counselors, postsecondary partners, and healthcare industry partners;
District teams must attend the annual California Health Science Educators Institute, held in Los Angeles every June;
Teams develop and submit a health science pathway strategic plan, as directed by the Institute;
A team approach is used in all facets of the California schools program;
Districts and their teams also must submit to the California schools letters of commitment to the California Health Science Education Institute program; and
California schools students must attend the California Health Science Education Institute.

The funds for the new California schools program were made available through a partnership between the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency and the California schools. The new programs goes a long way to support enrichment and improvement of the Health Science Pathway program in the California schools, as well as satisfying a community need and offering more opportunities for students in the future.

How to Start a Business Relationship, Even if You are Painfully Shy and Hate People

January 29, 2012

Course ONE: Response Synergy — The Ultimate Online & Offline Response Follow Up Tool

To build your business, you’ve got to build your business relationships. I said it now, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again throughout this course. Don’t worry about building your business, worry about building your relationships and your business will build itself. There are all kinds of easy, even automatic, things you can do to build a relationship and I’ll get into those in later lessons. First, though, you need to have a relationship before you can develop it into something profitable. How do you do that? How do you do that when you don’t have the time, energy, or gift of gab? As for the first two, all I can say is this: if you don’t think you have the time or energy now to start and build a business relationship, fine. Don’t. You’ll have plenty of energy and time later, when you don’t have any business. As for not being a “people person” or being shy about talking to new people, I’ll show you how to make this part as painless as possible.

The first thing to do when thinking about starting a business relationship is to decide who you want to have one with — narrow the pool of potential clients. It may sound counterintuitive, but it’s like pruning a tree. Sometimes you have to cut some new growth to make the whole tree stronger. Besides, that’s just less people you have to worry about talking to. Additionally, once you do this, you may discover that you have no problem connecting with and talking to these people because you have something in common — your business. Which brings me to the two easiest ways ever to start a business relationship: networking lunch and professional activities.

The networking lunch (sometimes it’s a breakfast) is the easiest single way to meet potential clients and client referral sources ever. At it’s least painful, you walk into a restaurant, sit down at a table with a couple of strangers, plop down your business cards, eat lunch, listen to a speaker, then leave after collecting the business cards of others. Of course, this is not the most efficient use of your time; things tend to work out better if you chat with the people you are sitting with. Usually, these things have a meet and greet time before the meal is actually served, and that’s a good time to chat with people and pass around your business cards. Sure you have to interact with people, maybe even strangers, but it actually is much easier than it seems because everything there is out in the open. That is, people are expecting you to talk about yourself and your business and hand them your business card. You must, of course, return the favor, and allow them to do the same. In that regard, here’s a tip that will make it easier for you to work the room: talk less, listen more. Most people will assume you are interested in them and think better of you for being so, and most people will assume you are interesting and intelligent until you prove otherwise.

If you are not involved in an industry or professional organization, tear yourself away from this lesson and join one or even two or three, now. I’ll wait. OK, good. Not only is it a great thing to join such a group in terms of keeping up with your business, it is a fantastic way to generate business. The better known you are in your industry, the more likely you are to get the business that someone else is conflicted out of or doesn’t have time or the ability to do. Further, people who are ancillary to your industry, but crucial for getting business are likely to attend these things. For instance, an estate planning attorney might be part of the Southern Arizona Estate Planning Council, an industry group that meets once a month for a dinner lecture. At dinner, that attorney will probably sit with other attorneys, CPAs, life insurance professionals, and financial advisors. All those people are sources of business for the attorney and vice versa.

Industry and professional groups, to be effective, usually require a little more than the average networking lunch. If you want anyone to take your business card, and actually do something with it besides throw it away, you need to make yourself known, and trusted, to the group. Volunteer for something. Speak at a lunch, write an article for the newsletter, donate meeting space. Do something besides just attend (though that’s better than nothing). When you do those things, you won’t have to worry about trying to talk to people; they’ll be clamoring to talk to you. A correlation to joining industry and professional groups and attending their events is participating in their online activities. Almost every group has a listserv or a message board; contribute to it. This is probably actually the easiest single way to meet business referral sources — even easier than the networking lunch.

Once you meet someone and decide you want to start a relationship with them, follow up right away. The next day is best, but within three days is crucial. Nothing elaborate is needed here, just a quick e-mail or phone call mentioning that it was nice talking to them and you’d like to meet again. Be sure to ask to meet again. If you promised some sort of information, be sure to deliver it. After the quick call or e-mail, send a note card with your business card inside, repeating yourself. It’s a good sign if they follow up with you too, mentioning that they were just about to call or e-mail you, but if you don’t hear anything, don’t freak out. Relationship building is a slow process, give it time. Move on to the next contact.

Fernando Alonso and the Canadian Grand Prix

January 29, 2012

Fernando Alonso won last Sunday his 4th consecutive race giving him the conquest of the Canadian Formula One Grand Prix. For Alonso who runs for Renault was an easy victory since he started from the pole and only had a brief challenge from the Finn Kimi Raikkonen at the beginning of the race but Alonso held off Raikkonens attempt to pass him in the 12th lap. Alonso’s final margin of victory was only 2.1 seconds

Raikkonen had problems in the pits while changing the right rear tire during his first stop and during the installation of his McLaren on another. He was then passed by Schumacher with one lap to go.

The seven-time winner on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher wasnt really a rival to Alonso since Schumacher drove his car off the track once, brushed the wall several times and cut across the curve on the final turn several times to take him out of contention. He had failed to finish three of his previous four races at this event, including last year but this time he took advantage of Kimi Raikkonen’s mistake on a hairpin turn on the next-top-last lap and took a second place.

Raikkonen’s McLaren Mercedes ended third, Giancarlo Fisichella’s Renault was fourth and Felipe Massa’s Ferrari was fifth.

The dirty, slippery track didn’t stop Fernando Alonso’s persistent ride toward a second straight Formula One Championship. Apparently the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve needs a new surface. Many pilots affirmed that the track got worst as the race progressed and that going off the racing line was like driving on a skating rink.

This is Alonsos sixth win of the season, which gives him advantage of 25 points with ten races to go in the World Championship standings on his way to next weeks U.S. Grand Prix. This is Alonsos 15th consecutive podium finish (top three), four podiums away from Schumachers record.

Next week, the Formula One moves to Indianapolis, and it is expected that it will make up for last year’s mess in which only six cars raced after those that use Michelin tires pulled out over safety concerns.

Anger And Rejections

January 29, 2012

Rejections are normal and we all are told no on many occasions. Some persons have difficulty handling rejections and may react hastily to the other person involved. If you walk in a bank and apply for a loan and are rejected you might stomp out the door shouting obscene talk to the lenders. This is not an appropriate way to handle the situation.

This in fact can get you in trouble and it is obvious that rejections are triggers to your emotions that enforce your anger. Now that you see this is a trigger you will need to learn how to cope with your anger and emotions. We can start with the technique to work through your anger by reducing your stress. If you are a spontaneous person then you will need to learn how to cut back on stressors. If you feel pressured in the morning before going to work, try picking out the clothes you will wear for that day the following evening.

This will provide you an extra few minutes during the morning to prepare for work. If you are running like a mad person to meet classes, then you might want to set up a schedule for your self that includes time management. This can help you learn to prepare ahead and stay on top of things without rushing. Instead of roaming thoughts through your head about what you, need to do each day, try handling one task at a time.

This works wonders once you practice and continue with your strategy. When you feel angry, try taking a few deep breaths before you speak. You may also want to practice exercising since this burns energy and often reduces your chances of exploding when your emotions are threatened. If you cannot handle rejections, coach your mind to believe that the person is not centering you out. Repeat over in your mind that no is a positive in many cases.

For example, if you are married, you enjoy going to the bar to chat with your friends, and your husband does not want you to go, and then think why he said no? Obviously, your husband cares about you since he knows that danger is potentially high at bars. He does not want you to get hurt therefore, he is saying no in your best interest. If the bank turns you down on a loan there is a legit reason. Maybe your credit report needs some repairing, or maybe they felt you income would not cover the loan amount.

Therefore, you best interest was at heart again. We all hear no throughout our lifetime and most times, it is for the best reasons. If you apply for a job and are turned down, it might be in your best interest, since the employers felt that your skills were not on the level that the job required of you. Alternatively, you may be over qualified for the job and when you are rejected, the employers are merely saying we do not have the cash to pay you for what you are worth. Thinking positive is always great for managing anger.

If you are prompt to explode when your emotions are interrupted then it is difficulty to manage your life. If you are angry most likely, all areas of your life seem like an uphill travel. When you gain control this often benefits everyone, including your self. Your life starts to improve and your mind is thanking you for removing stress from its cavity. If you are prone to beat your self up when rejections come your way, you might want to find a positive side of your being and enforce it in your mind repeatedly.

Practice makes perfect and this is a great way to train your mind so that you gain control of your mind and anger. If you are frustrated easily, it is probably because you do not take time out of a day for your self to relax. There is nothing wrong with relaxing. Therefore you can sit down for 30 minutes each day and yoga or think of nothing at all. Finally, we are closing so I wanted to let you know that once you practice the strategies for dealing with anger, pat your self on the back each time you make effort and achieve.

New Dracula Musical To Close, Except On Nights With Full Moon

January 29, 2012

Lestat, the new musical about vampires, if the mind can conceive of such an existent, having been sucked dry at the box office, is performing the most welcome service it has since its debut. Its closing.

The notice did provide, however, for the show to remain open on nights that feature a full moon.

Marking the debut of Warner Brothers in the theater venue, where it had hoped to further lower unrealistic hopes for intellectual excellence on the boards, while making as much moola as Disney, the fiasco came back to haunt the company as a $12-million guzzle of red ink.

With music and lyrics by the long-time-no-inspiration duo of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, who somehow could bring themselves to attempt yet one more musicalization of the haunts of those absurd creatures, we can now consider the show almost dead.

By the way, its when observing the persistent life of such absurdities that we remind ourselves only creatures with an evolutionary basis and an elaborate biological support system do in fact exist and that, consequently, all the monsters who haunted us in our childhood were actually no more than phantasms of the some Hollywood creep’s imagination, devised especially to haunt us out of the price of admission.

What is the Difference Between Basic and Gourmet Cooking?

January 28, 2012

How does Basic Cooking differ from Gourmet Cooking?

Basic Cook:

I think the majority of us are basic cooks. In my opinion, being a basic cook means that the meals are planned, time consuming and tasteful. Basic cooks have tried and tested meals that suit their individual/family’s taste. Basic cooks know what they like to eat and approximately how long it will take to prepare those meals. With our busy life-styles basic cooks want their family’s well feed with healthy well balanced meals. Every family has his/her favorite dishes and will proudly claim that the recipes for those favorites are family secrets. Generally, people will go to restaurant for a gourmet meal. A gourmet restaurant serves the highest quality food. With a sense of adventure you can learn how to cook gourmet meals at home.

Gourmet Cooking:

Epicure is a connoisseur meaning having an acquired refined and discriminating taste in foods and wines. An old French alteration (influenced by gourmand, glutton) of gourmand. Gourmet meals involves high-quality ingredients with skilled preparation. Gourmet cooking.involves only high quality and fresh ingredients. Let us compare. In basic cook if a recipe calls for garlic usually powdered garlic is used. With gourmet cooking only fresh chopped garlic is used. Consider if herbs are called for shop locally or consider growing your own. Having your own herbal garden saves money and make a world of difference in the taste of your gourmet experience. Not only do are herbs taste bud delights but they carry health benefits. In basic cooking we may defrost meat or use frozen vegetables. Not in gourmet cooking ONLY fresh. Gourmet chefs consider their meals works of art. There is a balance between colors and texture. Cooking time is important because it effects color and texture.

Let us compare a Basic Cook Salad to a Gourmet Salad:

Basic salad would consist:

-Iceberg lettuce 1/2 (shredded)

-1 garden tomato

-Shredded carrots (2)

-Green onions (4)

-½ chopped cucumber

-Choice of dressing

Gourmet Salad:

Tropical Fruit Salad with Mint – serves 8

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper

2 (10 ounce) packages mixed greens

4 thinly sliced chicken deli meat, chopped

1 tomato, chopped

1/4 tsp onion powder

3 dashes garlic powder

1 pinch ground black pepper

2 pinches salt

3 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing

Saute onion and bell pepper until soft; set aside to cool.

In a large salad bowl, combine the onion, pepper, salad greens, deli meat and tomato. Sprinkle with the onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper and salt. Toss to mix.

Pour on enough salad dressing or vinegar to coat, toss again and serve.

I am not suggesting cooking only basic or gourmet. Consider alternating between basis and gourmet cooking. Gourmet cooking is more time consuming and expensive than basic cooking. My comfort level was basic cooking but after my initial trial and error period gourmet cooking became quick and easy. The advantages are greater taste and quality. Compare the costs of dining at a gourmet restaurant and consider the money saved learning how to cook gourmet at home. Your family and friends will take pleasure in in your new gourmet meals.

January 28, 2012

Back pain is a common phenomenon in the United States with nearly 80% of the population suffering from it. However, a large portion of them are unaware of the reasons or the causes of this problem. A strain in the muscles is a major cause of the pain the back. Although back related pain may emerge suddenly, it may be caused by a problem which has plagued us for a long time.

Back pain is generally not a serious problem and disappears quickly in most of the cases. However, medical advice is essential in cases where the pain persists for a long time. It is a general notion that bed rest is the best cure for this pain. But evidence has shown that rest does not aid in the recovery of a person suffering from backache. Andropause and Testosterone

January 27, 2012

Does male Andropause cause testosterone levels decrease with age? Research tells us that men tend to develop male Andropause more gradually than their female counterpart. Male Andropause can begin as early as the mid-twenties as men begin to lose male hormones including testosterone, thyroid, human growth hormone and DHEA. The aging process begins in earnest because of the loss of hormones.

Because female Andropause is so sudden, the effect of declining hormones is much more obvious. But these same effects in men are more gradual and over time are easier to accommodate, and as a result, they often dont think to admit that they need help. For the most part, men dont talk about Andropause. Its not a manly thing to do. Between the ages of 35-45, men see a marked continual decline in keeping and maintaining erections. Ejaculation is not as powerful, and their stamina and endurance have waned as well.

What happens to men that treat male Andropause by replacing the male hormones? Here is a list of reported changes from men:

Increase in mental quickness

Improved enthusiasm for daily life

Depression lifts that they didnt know was there

More energy and a desire to be more active

Increase in sex drive demonstrated by night dreams, spontaneous erections and an overall increased interest in sex

Improved muscle tone and reduced fat

Replacement treatments approximates the natural, endogenous production of the hormone. The average male produces 407 mg of testosterone per day. Several different types of replacements are currently sold including tablets, injectables, and transdermal systems. Anyone using this replacement therapy should be monitored by a physician regularly.

This therapy is contraindicated in men with carcinoma of the breast or prostate, as it may cause rapid growth of these tumors. Men with benign prostatic hypertrophy-related bladder outlet obstruction are also not candidates for this kind of replacement. Read this abstract for more detailed cautions.

Male Andropause can effect the levels of testosterone and as a result, the male sex drive. For more information, bookmark this page as a good testosterone source.
