Linda E. Gaddy, born in Mendota, IL in 1959 was instilled with a love for art at an early age. Is it any wonder with a Grandmother who was an art teacher? This also afforded her private lessons throughout her childhood.
Married right out of high school with a family that soon followed caused her to put an art career on hold for more than 30 years. While living in FL from 1986-96, she designed and executed signs, designed logos, did architectural renderings and a few commissioned pieces, which somewhat filled the void. After moving to Western North Carolina in 1996, she took up woodcarving to pass the time. Dabbling at best with painting from time to time, garnered her a Merit Award at a local art show in 2001. Soon, managing a construction company took up all her time until 2007.
The death of a spouse, a year and a half of despair and depression, then miraculously finding the love of her life, David Gaddy, in January 2009 (and marrying him 3 months later) turned her life completely around. Together, they are Gaddy Studios. His love and enthusiasm for nature and the outdoors has rekindled the same passion she always had for the same, but somehow lost along the way. Hiking and camping as often as they can, provides many photographs and memories to draw upon while in their studio and workshops creating. She, drawing and painting mainly landscapes and nature scenes in whatever medium seems to fit the piece; he, perfecting the craft of fine woodworking; both collaborating on live-edge, one-of-a-kind art furniture pieces.
